INTRODUCTION
The purpose topic will be focusing on is the Second Amendment stating that "A well-
regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep
and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" (Second Amendment, Constitution of the United States).
The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states that the right to keep and bear arms is not
infringed, being necessary to the security of a free State, and a well-regulated Militia The
language used in the Second Amendment has created a debate about its intended scope. Many
interpretations believe that the Constitution's Second Amendment guarantees an individual right
to keep and bear arms, with cases highlighting firearm concerns along with the pros and cons of
ownership. However, this theory does not address the restrictions that state and local
governments can impose on the possession of firearms. In America, the research will explain
how the Second Amendment allows people the right to keep and bear arms, and shall not be
infringed, while America has been fighting against gun control because Americans believe that
gun ownership is rooted in the Second Amendment.

1. A majority of Americans regard guns as a symbol of their independence and freedom;
they also believe that they represent a government that is dedicated to protecting the
people. Yet, to some, they are a symbol of fear and violence. On the other hand, to others,
they are a symbol of innocent blood that has been spilled by men. What do people think
about gun control? I will talk about the various policies that have been in place in an
order to be considered regarding gun control. It is a topic that has brought out strong
opinions and emotional conversations. It is also difficult for the government to come up

with a decision regarding gun control. Due to the increasing number of shootings that
have occurred in the US, the debate over gun control has become more important.
Although the availability of guns has led to many tragic incidents, the question of
whether or not banning them is constitutional remains.
The Supreme Court ruled in the United States v. Cruickshank, the Second Amendment
overturned the convictions of white defendants in this case because their rights specified
"bearing arms for a lawful purpose." (United States V. Cruikshank, 92 U.S. 542 (1875), n.d.)
The Supreme Justice held the Second Amendment restricts only the powers of the national
government, and it does not restrict private citizens from the right to keep or bear arms. The
Cruickshank case has been cited by supporters of restrictive state and local gun control laws
