Introduction to Information Technology - Spreadsheet Formatting

The type of chart that would be most appropriate for the final spreadsheet would be a column chart. A column chart is used to represent data in the spreadsheet so that it may be compared. In this case it would be used sales figures of New Hampshire Business Products. This type of chart would make for the most convenient way to compare the data visually. The audience of the spreadsheet is the executives and management of NHBP and management at Business Consultants. It is important to consider the audience for this because the data should be able to be easily understood by those who will be looking it over. Labeling is also very important for clarity's sake. In this case the column chart will begin with a Y axis of zero and will increase based on the data. This will ensure that the increase in easily seen by those reading the chart and ensures there is less likelihood of the data being misunderstood. Formatting as a whole will need to match the rest of the pieces of the business presentation. Consistency is extremely important in creating a professional presentation. Keeping the font, font size, bordering, coloring, etc. the same is how I will ensure the professional audience of the presentation as a whole can easily understand and view the content. For example. keeping the font Times New Roman size 12 and ensuring the colors chosen in the previous business letter match the coloring chosen in the column chart for the spreadsheet will ensure consistency and simplicity. Another key to creating a successful spreadsheet will be using the formulas already integrated into Excel to ensure there are no errors in the data being presented The most appropriate formatting for the numerical data will be to round to only 2 decimal points and use the currency formatting option. All of these formatting choices in mind should make for a simple and professional spreadsheet to add to the business presentation.
