Module 2-1 Assignment
Murder is the crime I chose for this assignment. Murder is defined by the NIBS, "the
willful killing of one human being by another. (Denver Gov,n.d.).
Crimes like assault in death of an individual or individuals. When it comes to the crime of
Aggravated Assault that results in a death would be events such as suicides, accidents,
and justifiable Homicides
The classification of the aggressor/offender that commits this type of crime usually has
some sort of relationship with their victims, they could be a family member, friend
girlfriend or boyfriend etc. The individuals that commit Murder do not fall into one
specific classification for instance a person who has grown up in a very violent and
chaotic home, has seen nothing but violence, that individual is only going to know
violence because they have seen or been taught any different. So, when someone causes
or threatens to cause harm or pain to that individual that person becomes the number one
target.
The Rational-Choice Perspective aspect of sociology explains this crime. Not only are
these aggressors/criminals out to fulfill a need they are also trying to prevent the pain and
harm from happening. The criminal is making their choice to commit this crime at their
own free will and set out to accomplish a specific goal
