A. Provide a brief summary of the external forces that affect the organization. Explain who the competitors are and the market space they affect.
Some of the external forces that impact the organization include larger annual budgets
and larger facilities. This could possibly include the Kaiser facility. The Tiburcio Vasquez Center occupies part of the region where a larger portion of AHS's patients reside.
B. Provide an interpretation of the external forces and your case study organization's competitive advantage. What areas of the organization are affected by the external forces, and how does your case study's organization stand out?
A main impact of the external forces would be the inability to pay the physicians as much as larger facilities or provide them with an equal retirement account. This would undeniably cause a higher turn-over rate or inability to recruit physicians which would impact the quality of care. Also, not being able to expand to more locations would affect AHS and potentially lose patients to a facility that would be closer to home.
C. Discuss how the external forces should impact the strategic planning of the organization Be sure to address how the organization should address the threats from the external forces using its competitive advantage.
AHS would need to implement strategic planning in a way to increase physician pay gradually over the next few years. That way they can be competitive in the market and have a higher chance of retaining physicians. AHS could offer transportation to its patients who do not live close by that way the patients could continue to receive care with their facility
