Memo To: Tara Grippon, HR Director From: Joy Dyson-Smith, Senior Human Resources Generalist Date: February 17, 2024 Re: Training Needs Assessment ABC Truck Body Builders, LLC Good morning Tara, I hope this memo finds you well. In this memo I will go over the process of conducting a training needs assessment, as well as what is needed in a TNA. I will also explain why completing a TNA is important, and how I will use the TNA to propose and evaluate the training plans we have in process. Finally, I will justify why past assessments and employee surveys can be used when conducting the current TNA's. The purpose of a TNA is to help guide an organization learning and development plans. We can use TNAs to identify the areas of growth, and also to understand what is missing in the current training we are providing, as well as pinpoint new skills that will be necessary for our company's success. By using TNAs we will be able to sue what is really need and or not needed. We need to
decide what training needs to be done to help either the organization or team to perform effectively. We should also think about what training needs to be carried out to help our team reach a performance standard for a particular task or job. And lastly, we need to identify which team members need the training and in what areas then need the training to perform their jobs more effectively. Once we have analyzed all the needs, we need to solve the task of what training is needed and what is not. We will need to identify and develop a new learning and development plan that will align with the company and employee needs, we might even come to the conclusion that all we need to do is revamp the current training programs we have in place and just make some changes to its working environment. By reviewing past assessment, we can see where individual team members are lacking or succeeding. If we can get all departments involved, managers will be able to speak to team members and identify areas of concerns. To get a better idea of how the team members feel, training/ learning and development is going at our company we can gather data from surveys. After surveys and assessments have been reviewed, we will be able to put together a plan for the upcoming year and align our programs to better achieve the needs of our team members and company. We will also be able to budget for future training and see where we can allocate resources to assist with this development. We can use past assessment and employee surveys to better understand the gaps and areas of concern, we can get all departments involvement, and we can plan and align our training program to better assist our team members which in the end will better the company. 2
I look forward to working with you on these TNA's
