Abstract
This paper aims to increase awareness of increasing prescription drug costs regarding
nursing due to a decrease in societal health. According to the code of ethics, the nurse in all

and uniqueness of every individual boundless by considerations of social or economic status,
personal attributes, or the nature of health problems (Fowler; 2010).
What are the current politics of the issue?
One of the main political issues with Prescription drug cost is the centralized price
controlling mechanism. The Drug competition action plan formulated by the FDA 2017 has
shown that using the generic drug has reduced monopolies to brand name drug manufacturers
(Garness, 2019). A recent consumer report indicates that currently, Americans are paying 25%
more for prescription drug costs than a report from last year. Gag clauses have caught the
attention of state policymakers that are seeking to lower prescription drug cost. Patients and
families do not understand that certain drugs can be purchased at a cash price and cost less.
Pharmacies are not educating the patients on their options for cost efficiency.
