Integrating Human Sciences in Medical and Legal Professions

Giselle Paz HUSC 2310 Journal #4 To be a "human scientist" means testing out the world and experiencing it: experimenting, hypothesizing, and investigating to integrate into jobs, interactions, performance, and our daily lives for the betterment of our society. A current goal I have for myself is to graduate and begin my journey toward becoming a surgeon and lawyer. I chose the surgeon pathway because learning drives me to continue on. Additionally, I enjoy being within a hospital environment and being able to interact with people and see them transform into healthy beings. In like manner, being a lawyer supplies the opportunity to help others while also allowing me to continue learning. I want to be a surgeon and lawyer to uncover and enhance human lives. My disciplines include human sciences, biology, and addictive disorders and recovery studies. A theory around the first area of concentration is Social Learning theory. This concept was proposed by Albert Bandura which examines environment and cognitive behaviors to understand the influence on humans. In relation to the medical field of study, interactions between myself, individuals, and environments will allow me to better serve; grants effective behavior, relationships, and emotions. For biology, the Theory of Evolution By Natural Selection entails the survival of those who best adapt to their environments. Understanding this idea is essential to seeking treatment and forms of assistance to distinguish what is required for an individual to succeed. Lastly, The Disease Model of Addiction touches on how addiction can be influenced by external factors including behavior, genetics, environment, etc. To be a lawyer and surgeon being aware of a client/patient's addiction is vital in meeting their health needs and treatments. Holistic wellness takes into account additional aspects of wellness - mental, physical, emotional, etc. I believe that for a person to be considered healthy, it goes beyond their physical Giselle Paz HUSC 2310 health; a person is not to optimum wellness unless all aspects meet a healthy balance. My responsibility based on my medical career path is to ensure that all patients reach holistic wellness; ensuring to look beyond physical attributes of health. Personal theory: · Environment · Learning · Interactions · Goals · Society · Behaviors To conclude, I want to be a surgeon and a lawyer. Both of these professions make us to be "human scientists" in which we test our world to understand and apply new ideas to better our society. We grow as individuals to achieve personal human capacity.
