2-5 Assignment
The degree I am pursuing at Southern New Hampshire University is cybersecurity. The
profession I hope to go into one day is web development. The argument that I will be making in
my persuasive essay is that web development is not a dying career. Web development is a
growing career field. My potential audience is computer science college students who are trying
to decide what career they want. It will be challenging to support my argument with this
audience. College students generally have a lot of debt, so they want to pick a profitable career.
Most college students would be reluctant to go into web development, because it has gained a
reputation for being a dying career.
My main goal of my persuasive essay is to convince college students to go into the career of
web development. Web developers create and have their websites maintained
Three main points that support my argument are that after the pandemic many industries
shifted online. Consequently, there has been a greater demand for web software. My second
point is web development is a very wide and diverse field. For example there are back end
developers and front end developers. The third point is that web developers are looking at a 13%
increase in the next 10 years.
The first resource is an article from the website GeeksforGeeks. The article name is "Web
Development". It provides a description of what web developers do. I can use information from
this resource in my persuasive essay. Before I make any arguments regarding web development I
need to define what web development is. Resource is an article from the website Game Dev
academy. "Web Developers: Career Outlook for 2023" is the article name. The author of this
article is Lindsey Shardon. It was published recently on October 3rd of 2022. This article also
includes a definition of web development. In addition it includes the statistics of growth in
coming years. It includes why the author thinks that web development is a growing career. This
resource will give me significant evidence for me to put in my persuasive essay.
I can integrate the evidence I gained from these two resources in my persuasive essay.
