Comparing Two Infections with Similar Symptoms

Choose two infections caused by di erent pathogens that have similar symptoms. Examples include two infections, both of which can be transmitted through sexual contact such as, bacterial vaginosis and vaginal fungal infection (although not STIs these conditions are classi ed as sexually associated) or herpes and gonorrhea which can both cause sores in the genital area 1. What is the organism, etiology, transmission, symptoms, clinical signs, treatment, and prognosis of each disease? 2. What examinations, diagnostic tests, or characteristics of the organisms would allow medical professionals to distinguish between the two and deliver an accurate diagnosis to the patient? 3. If the patient were misdiagnosed with one infection while they actually have the other. how would they be treated and what would be the effect (or absence of effect) of the treatment? How can clinicians attain more accuracy in diagnosis and treatment for disease? vaginal candidiasis and Bacterial vaginosis Though both are types of "vaginitis," bacterial vaginosis (BV) and yeast infections have distinct causes, symptoms, and treatments. The causes of bacterial vaginosis (BV) and yeast infections are quite different. Both of these kinds of vaginal infection are very common; nevertheless, they are sometimes confused for one another, which is why self-diagnosis for these symptoms is not always encouraged (CMG Antilanta (2020). Candidiasis is an infectious disease caused by a yeast, a type of fungus called candida Candida usually lives in the skin, mouth, throat, intestines, and vagina without any problems Candida can cause infections when the condition in the vagina changes and promotes its growth. Though vaginal candidiasis is spread through sexual contact, it is not considered a sexual transmitted disease (CDC.gov,2022). Sexually transmitted infections (STI), also known as sexually transmitted diseases, do not include vaginal yeast infections (STD). Sexual contact can spread it, but it can also infect women who are not sexually active. The symptoms of candidiasis in the cervix include itching or soreness in the cervix. Pain during a sexual encounter when urinating may cause people to experience pain or discomfort (CDC.gov,2022). Additionally, vaginal candidiasis is regularly mild. However, some women can develop severe infections that cause redness, swelling, and cracks in the vaginal wall. According to the CDC, some of the early signs of vaginal candida include External dysuria and vulvar pruritus, as well as pain, swelling, and redness, are all clinical indicators of Candida vaginitis. Signs include fissures, vulvar edemas, excoriations, and thick, curdy vaginal discharge (CDC.gov,2022) When a person is infected with vaginal candidiasis, they are treated with antifungal medication and an antifungal medicine is also applied inside the vagina or a single dose of fluconazole is taken orally. However, if the infection is severe and does not heal or keep retuning, then other medication has to be taken, such as boric acid, nystatin, or flucytosine and has to be inserted inside the vagina (CDC.gov,2022). Bacterial vaginosis, on the other hand, is the result of an imbalance in the natural balance of bacteria within the vagina. It is caused by a decrease i
