Comparative Public Health Systems: A SWOT Analysis of Uzbekistan and Indonesia

Written Assignment Unit Written Assignment Unit 2 University of the People HS 2711-01 - AY2024-T2 - Health Science 1 Instructor: Linnette Wong 29 November 2023 Community & Public Health: An Introduction In WHO Catalog, seven (7) case studies are presented: Estonia, Uzbekistan, Republic of Moldova, Slovakia, Poland, Cyprus and Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Choose any one (1) of these case studies and discuss it in comparison with your experiences with public health in your own country using the Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) Analysis/Overview found in Section 4 of the case study identify and effectively describe 3-4 key similarities or differences to your country's public health care system. What linkages do the two public health systems share? And which do they differ on? Are there any lessons to be learned from the case study that could be applicable to your country context? Describe them. Are there any lessons that could be learned from your country context that would benefit other countries? What are they and how do they contribute to a healthier population? Introduction 7 Case studies representing 7 countries are presented in the WHO document by (Harris et al., 2017). The case studies are about the experiences of each of the countries' on the topic of essential public health operations (EPHO), mostly written based on their self-assessments activities, as I understand it. The Case studies report itself aims to understand the extent of the EPHO self-assessment framework contribution towards the development of public health related policies (Harris et al., 2017). Chosen Case Study For the chosen Case Study, I choose Uzbekistan. I came from Indonesia, and Uzbekistan and Indonesia have variety of similarities. Both countries are noted as a Muslim-majority country. Both countries adopts a secular approach. Both countries are a republic. Both countries are developing countries from the economical perspective.
