University of the People. Human anatomy and physiology. The urinary tract. Written assignment.
Our bodies sometimes produce wasteful components from all the processes that happen within the body, so we need a system that can take out all of this waste and get it to outside our bodies, and this function falls into the hands of the urinary system. With additional functions such as regulating water levels within the body as well as water levels and water pressure, the urinary system plays a big part in keeping our bodies in a homeostatic state to make sure that everything is working in a correct and a precise way. With that said, we now know how important the urinary system is, so this means that any disturbance of this system may lead to a bunch of functions being disturbed within the body destroying any sense of balance in the body. So in today's assignment, I will be looking at a clinical disorder of the urinary system, and analyzing its impact on both the community. A brief introduction of cystitis. Cystitis is a clinical condition that affects the urinary tract. This condition affects the bladder, where it becomes infected (Nhs, 2022). Another name for this condition is a bladder infection. Symptoms and signs of cystitis. This condition has several painful symptoms that include the following: a burning sensation while peeing, needing to pee more often, dark and cloudy urine where this can be seen in the process of uranalysis, pain in the lower abdominal area, and feeling unwell (NHS inform, 2023). This condition is more common in women due to their anus being closer to their urethra, as well as their urethra being shorter (NHS inform, 2023).
Causes of cystitis. The main cause of cystitis is a bacterial infection, this infection can happen due to several of reasons, such as having unprotected sex, wrong wiping of the anus, and using tampons (NHS inform, 2023). Treating cystitis Thankfully treating cystitis is not a hard task. Since this disease is caused by a bacterial infection, the best course of action for treating it is via a course of antibiotics. The results can be expected in a day or two. If the pain is overwhelming the use of over-the-counter painkillers such as ibuprofen and paracetamol can relieve the pain. Drinking a lot of water has been shown to help as well and holding warm or hot water bottles near the thighs or abdominals can be useful (NHS inform, 2023). If the urine is not being able to come out the usage of diuretics can be useful. Prevention of cystitis. There are several practices that should be considered in the case of preventing bladder infections in the future. These practices include the following: going to the toilet when needed and not delaying it if possible, emptying the bladder fully when peeing, making sure you drink a lot of water to stay hydrated, washing the anus instead of wiping or wiping correctly from front to back instead from
