Introduction "Urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of the urinary system which includes the kidney, ureters, bladder and urethra and in this case most infections involve the lower urinary tract that is bladder and the urethra" (Mayo Clinic, n. d.). From what we understand, the discussion this week will be about urinary continence which is the loss of bladder control which shows symptoms like, leaking urine when you cough or sneeze to having an urge to urinate that's so sudden and strong you don't get to a toilet in time ( Mayo Clinic, n. d)
Urinary Incontinence Urinary continence is experienced by people when there is minor leaks of urine and sometimes it is lose small to moderate amount of urine more frequently. There are types of urinary incontinence such as: Stress Incontinence It happens when bladder experience pressure by coughing, sneezing, laughing or lifting something heavy. Urge Incontinence
"This type of incontinence happens in a sudden way, intense urge to urinate followed by involuntary loss of urine and this may make you urinate often including throughout the night. Cases of minor conditions such as infection or more severe such as neurological disorder or diabetes"( Mayo Clinic. n. d.) Functional Incontinence It happens when there is physical or mental impairment which keeps it from making it to the toilet in time. Such impairment like arthritis and you may not be able to unbutton your pants quickly( Mayo Clinic, n. d.) Mixed Incontinence In mixed incontinence, you will experience more than one type of urinary incontinence and it is most often refers to a combination of stress incontinence and urge incontinence. Impact of Urinary Incontinence in a community This type of disorder may make the victim feel uncomfortable and further affect your quality of life by restricting your activities and limiting your social interaction with the community. A good example is that if you were to offer some services like teaching then it will restrict the services you offer to the community. During older ages, the victim risk of falls as they rush to the toilet. Being a victim of this kind of situation is not easy. My daddy is a victim and also suffering from Parkinson's disease has been facing it hard. Sometimes he urinate on his clothes and someone has to wash them. Someone must be home to check on him and help him with any services he may need. What make Urinary Incontinence happen
