Risk Assessment and Hazard Mitigation in HDB Lift Environments

ORMIT UNIVERSITY Executive Summary This risk assessment report examines the increased number of HDB lift occurrences by determining the main cause and hazards existing in the HDB lift environment, such as plant, chemical, and biological hazards. The goal of this paper is to help lift technicians reduce the risks and dangers they face in the workplace. A risk assessment will be undertaken to assess the three most hazardous plant risks, two most toxic chemical hazards, and one most dangerous biological hazard, both with and without control measures. Following that, a risk reassessment will be demonstrated using the ALARP concept, as well as the cost-effectiveness of implementing these controls. Each hazard will be evaluated and recommendations will be made.
