Tutorial 1: Arrangement of electrons around a nucleus 1. Describe the structure of the atom. What is it mostly made up of? 2. Draw ALL of the first 20 atoms in the Periodic Table (atomic number 1 to 20) include protons, neutrons and electrons (make sure to add the shells). How many electrons are in each shell?
3. State the number of electrons (how does this relate to the proton i.e. atomic number?) 4. Can you state the number of neutrons an atom has? when given the atomic number and AMU (atomic mass unit) i.e. the mass number? 5. An atom has 20 electrons. Draw the arrangement of these electrons in the atom. What atom is it? 6. How many protons would this atom have? 7. How many neutrons?
