Analyzing 2x2 Factorial Designs and Graphs

Factorial Designs & Graphing Worksheet PSYC 217 Mark Lam Use this worksheet to practice working with 2x2 factorial designs and their graphs. For each question, you should be able to answer whether 1) there's a main effect of A, 2) there's a main effect of B, and 3) if there's an interaction. Tip: Print out these sheets and work directly on them! It may also help to use different colored pens when drawing your graphs. Section 1: The first eight questions provide you with cell means from which you should be able to generate both a line and a bar graph. Calculate the marginal means, understand where these points would be on your graphs, and how these points relate to main effects. Section 2: The next eight questions provide you with different line graphs from which you should be able to determine the cell and marginal means in your 2x2 factorial table. Try to find the marginal means from your graph first, before calculating them from the cell means in your table. Bonus Challenge: Try creating a bar graph from your line graph, without using the factorial table! Section 3: The last eight questions provide you with different bar graphs from which you should be able to determine the cell and marginal means in your 2x2 factorial table. Try to find the marginal means from your graph first, before calculating them from the cell means in your table. Bonus Challenge: Try creating a line graph from your bar graph, without using the factorial table! Answers are provided on the last page, as indicated by the red letter provided with each question.
