Designing Wearable Technology for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury Analysis

Assignment Instruction: Next meeting date: March 19, Saturday. Selected Injury: Anterior cruciate ligament - Think about how both preventing and collecting data can be useful - Preventing: helps patient - Collecting data: Validating and studying the injury With your group, pick one specific injury that occurs · Could be a result of falls, sports, vehicle crashes, etc. · Consider injuries you or someone you know have had · Consider focusing on a specific group who is injured (e.g. hockey players, children, etc.) · Identify the injury mechanism () · Do basic research about the injury to explain what causes the injury () · Design a novel piece of wearable technology that could be used to collect data about that injury (Together) (either to prevent the injury or to collect meaningful data about the injury) · Note that you do not need a physical prototype but just a detailed sketch of the design · Create a 3 to 4-minute video which does the following: · Explains the injury you picked and the injury mechanism () - Research about ACL, forces, how you get the injury · Describes the prevalence or severity of this type of injury (i.e. why should we care about studying this injury)) · Use one or more references · Describes (with a detailed sketch) your proposed design for wearable technology to collect data about this injury in the real world () . Consider the sensors you would use, the materials for the design, method for data transmission, and any other relevant information about the design () - How sensors can be applied to our device · Explains how the data could be used to understand the injury () - data that we get from the device, how do we use it to study the injury? · Explains how you would validate this device in the laboratory () - How we can use sensors to validate this device in the laboratory · The recording can be done through Zoom or another tool, but all group members should contribute to and speak in the video · Use slides or another visual to explain your design submission: .
