Sanatorium Daily Routine and Patient Care

SANATORIUM WEEKLY SCHEDULE MONDAY 5:00am- All patients get their temperatures taken. Be sure not to rattle them upon waking. Take temperature immediately. Do not let the patient sit up or speak. Patients must go back to sleep directly afterwards. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 8:00am- Wake patients. Wake carefully, be sure not to startle them. Patients will be weighed. They will be given a glass of milk then go back into bed and should stay lying down with only one pillow resting until food is brought to them. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 8:30am- Breakfast is brought to patients. Breakfast consists of one slice of toast with 1 teaspoon of butter, 1 bowl of porridge, 4 slices of bacon, 2 raw eggs, and a cup of milk. Those who are not at the "absolute" stage of rest and recovery, may sit up to eat. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 9:15am- Ensure all food has been eaten. Patients who are allowed to have movement go to the restroom and get dressed. During this time make beds, empty bedpans that need emptying, remove dishes and any other housekeeping that needs done. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 9:30am- Patients go outside for fresh air. They may read, knit, or write at this time. Those who are not allowed movement stay resting in bed. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 10:30am- A small meal given, a glass of milk, a piece of toast and 1 raw egg. No more activity allowed. Complete rest at this time on the outdoor beds and chairs. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 12:30pm- Lunch is brought to patients outdoors. Lunch consists of a glass of milk, 2 raw eggs, one diced boiled potato with skins, 2 boiled carrots, and tomato soup. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 1:15pm- Ensure all food has been eaten. Take away dishes and take any patient that needs to use the restroom and bring them back outdoors after. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 1:30pm- At this time activities are allowed (writing, reading, knitting etc.). Those who are allowed to walk and have movement may do so with supervision. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 4:00pm- Patients who are seeing the doctor today will be brought back to their rooms, those who do not need to see the doctor will remain outdoors. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 4:30pm- Doctors will start making the rounds to see patients. Patients are to be brought back outside to rest or remain indoors to rest depending on what they have been prescribed. No activity allowed. * Do not move patients on complete bed rest* 6:00pm- Dinner is brought to patients. Dinner consists of a glass of milk, 1 raw egg, meatloaf, and green beans .* Do not move patients on complete bed
