ENT10002 Creativity and Innovation - ASSIGNMENT 1 - Reflective Writing Name: Liana Garcia Student ID: 103608658 Due date: April 1, 2022 Word count: 2000 Contents Introduction 3 SECTION -A - Componential Theory of Creativity 4 SECTION - B - Kirton's Adaption-Innovation Theory 6 Conclusion 8 References: 9 Introduction Creativity is something that all people have within them, and has become a big part of today's world. It can lead to both failure and great success, yet is a powerful tool to have and take advantage of. This essay explores two theories, the 'Componential Theory of Creativity' and Kriton's Adaptation-Innovation Theory. The Componential Theory of Creativity focuses on individual creativity levels, and explores four components - domain-relevant processes, creativity-relevant processes, intrinsic task motivation and the social environment. The first three are within the individual while the social environment is external to the individual. Kriton's Adaption-Innovation Theory focuses on exploring cognitive styles, the importance of both styles, and the way in which individuals solve problems. This reflection explores not only the most important insights of the theories, but the way in which they change my approach of managing individuals, developing creative organisational environments, and contribution at work. The report explores how creativity plays a crucial role in all organisations, and how someone can use these skills as an advantage.
