Enhancing Teamwork and Leadership Strategies

Learning and Working in Teams In the video, Amy talks about several topics that help improve team work in an organization and how different leadership strategies help improve the monetary as well psychological performance of an organization. The topics that I found helpful for my team were: Psychological Safety: A psychologically safe environment is where all the members of a team can share and put forward their thoughts and opinions without the fear of negative judgement. According to me this strategy will be very useful if incorporated successfully as my team lacks the necessary communication and bonding needed to for the effective completion of this task. This was the case for my other group as well (in the unit Problem Solving with ICT). It was difficult to initiate a continuous and informative brainstorming session because no one was comfortable sharing their ideas. But after a while, when we noticed that other groups were doing quite well and were having fun doing it as well, one of the members in the group got the ball rolling and broke the ice. After that, everyone got comfortable and let their ideas out. It is because of that simple ice breaker, everyone felt comfortable sharing their thoughts and we got excellent ideas for the tasks. I think the best way to implement this strategy in my group would be to take the initiative myself and get the group members comfortable enough by asking them questions, not just about the task, but also something that is not related to work so that they get into that "comfort zone". Learning from Failure: In the video, Amy explains that it is essentially important to learn from failure as failures are inevitable. Failures are seen from a negative point of view, but instead we should acknowledge the fact that failures are necessary and create a good learning-based environment within the team/organization. The video also emphasizes on the reframing the way we look at failure by understanding these three important things- 1) Relationship between uncertainty and failure. 2) Set expectations about the level of level failures. 3) Every person has a crucial role in the organization. I believe that creating a psychologically safe environment creates a good foundation for this strategy. Once the members of a team get comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions, they will be more open to the idea of inevitable failure. I think this strategy will help my group perform well as it has the potential to create a good learning-environment for the members. In my opinion, the best way to implement it would be by sharing your progress at every moment so that the other team members know where you stand. It is important for the other team members to know where one is doing well and where one is struggling. This way the team can avoid failures and can also overcome the problem of duplication of tasks. If one makes a mistake, it would be the team's duty to get him/her back on
