Owned by Canadian company Kirkland Lake Gold, it began underground operations in 2008 and has poured more than 1,000,000 ounces of gold since. The first gold was discovered at Fosterville in the 1890's, However it took until the 1980's before serious exploration began. Fosterville Gold mine was an open pit mine for 20 years before exploring underground. Ion Hann : Production Manager Ion is the 2nd in charge (2IC) on site and was headhunted from the Western Australian Mining industry to begin the Underground Operations at Fosterville, Victoria in 2005. Having previous mining experience of 27 years and has "been in management for 23 [of those 27] years." 1000000 Managers role The Main role of a the production manager is to ensure that the workplace is meeting production goals in line with the schedule. "We review where we are at every week. We have a 3 month rolling plan, that is inline with quarterly and yearly plan which aligns with our budgets.
