INF10003 INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS - ASSIGNMENT 3 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Golden Dairy Farms Pty Ltd. (GDF) was founded in 1961 in Berwick, Victoria by Mr. Geoff Frost, a former East Gippsland farmer. As a mild processor for the local dairy farmers, the company has grown into a multi-million-dollar mixed product firm with a strong penetration into the local market, and a developing export business. The company's products consist of a large range of milk products (e.g. whole milk, reduced fat milk, skinny milk, flavoured mild etc.) and a range of specialized milk products including, A2 milk, UHT milk, Lactose free milk. Lactose free milk, and Organic milk. In this report we will be looking at the current Business challenges wanting a system that can respond more effectively to the complexities of the changing marketplace. GDF would like to implement Business intelligence (BI) which is a process of gathering information from data. Data can be collected from internal and external sources, the relational data, Microsoft excel, export of texts and XML data streams and stored in operational systems or data warehousing The Business Process Model "As Is" Swim Lane Diagram has been implemented but it is ineffective with lack of connectivity within the system. To make it more effective a "To Be" Business process model has been implemented to make it more effective for the clients and departments monitoring of stock and orders within the Business Intelligence system (BIS). The mobile app has been designed to rectify issues with the current processes such as inadequate communication between the company and clients, as well as departments within the company, an improved ordering system and stock control, updated payment system and an avenue to promote new products. The mobile app will be web based which will enable it to be accessed through desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones, allowing everyone to always be connected to the system. Will focus on helping GDF to achieve organisational objectives through providing many strategies that they can incorporate into their general business practices, which will lead them towards long term sustained success. This will come through the suggestions found in the answering of 'general questions. This will include factors such as how the analysis of information will provide GDF with a competitive advantage as they can benchmark performance, as well as help them with the long-term attraction of customers through modernisation techniques such as adopting cloud services.
