CASE STUDY SCENARIO: COMPARE THE SALES BUSINESS PROCESS OF COLES and OPTUS Activity 1: Students to work in small groups of 3/4 to write the 2 sets of steps involved in shopping from Coles Supermarket Ie. Go to shop to buy groceries vs Buy some groceries from www.coles.com.au Type of Process Sales business process Manual Process 1- Visit Coles physically 2- Select cart/ packaging preference 3- Manually attain and add to cart required foods 4- Take purchasing items to register/cashier 5- Scan items 6- Select POS payment methods (card/cash) and process payment 7- Once processed receive receipt /invoice 8- Pack items 9- Return to residence Online Process 1- In browser search website. (www.coles.com.au) 2- Login into account (create if new) and select shop online 3- Add to cart required items and quantity 4- Once all required items in cart proceed to checkout (min purchase =$50) 5- Select Coles store delivery /pickup preference 6- Select time preference 7- Select bagging preference 8- Add banking/payment preference details and complete order 9- Once acknowledged items processed and invoice sent to email 10- Items arrived at residence Activity 2: Teams to work out the benefits and disadvantages of both types of business process.
