Responsible Consumption and Production in Business Practice

SDG which currently impacts Cacao King throughout its business process chain is SDG 12 being responsible consumption and production. According to SDG Tracker (2018), Sustainable consumption and production involves encouraging efficient usage of resource and energy , as well as providing access to basic services, decent and green jobs, and a better standard of living for all. The efficient management of natural resources, as well as the disposal of toxic pollutants and waste , are crucial targets for achieving this goal (Parks 2017). Implementation of the proposals and recommendations proposed by the team aids in the achievement of overall development goals and being responsible in terms of the firm's consumption and production. Furthermore, implementation of the proposed recommendations will also help in the reduction of future economic, social, and environmental costs, the strengthening of economic competitiveness, and poverty reduction in the long run. SDG 12 is related with trade-offs, particularly in terms of economic advancement. Tobias et al. (2015) stated that limiting climate change, responsible consumption, and reducing inequalities are key barriers to achieving 2030 goals globally. Accepting a relatively minor loss in company economic performance in exchange for significant social or environmental benefits, for example, may result in a significant positive firm's contribution to sustainable development (Christian et al., 2019). From an ethical standpoint, the SDGs can be viewed as development goals that are supposed to contribute to the attainment of a decent life and a good society. They are underpinned by fundamental ethical problems like social justice, inequality, human rights, poverty, choice and freedom, which are already and continue to be at the heart of real life, development ethics , and philosophical discourse. Adherence to the SDG increases corporate resilience and security, as companies that align with the SDGs are more likely to be better positioned in the future due to the constant change of government regulations.
