For a random sample of 1500 Australian employees, the average of engagement with their team was 11.55 (SD = 6.08). This is lower than the mean team engagement of 14.5 recorded in previous research and a one-sample t test shows this difference in mean engagement with the team is significant, t(1499) = 18.77, p < 0.001. The 95% confidence interval shows that the average team engagement for Australian employees is between 2.64 and 3.26 lower than previous research. As expected, the average of engagement with their colleagues for Australian public service employees has decreased since last research. For a random sample of 1496 Australian employees, the average of engagement with the supervisor with less than 5 years tenure (M=13.99, SD = 5.24, n = 481) was higher than the average of employees with 5 or more years tenure (M =13.24, SD = 5.22, n = 1015), and an independent samples t test shows this difference in mean engagement with their supervisor is significant, t(1494) = 2.62, p = 0.009. The 95% confidence interval shows that the average of engagement with their supervisor of Australian employees with less than 5 years tenure is between 0.19 and 1.33 greater than for those with 5 years or more tenure. As expected, the average of engagement with their supervisor is higher for Australian public service employees with less than 5 years tenure compared to those who have 5 years or more tenure.
