Descriptive Analysis of Marital Status and Total Expenditure

Question 1 - Produce the relevant descriptive graph and table to summarise the Marital Status variable. Write a paragraph explaining the key features of the data observed through the output. The marital status of the sample was collected and analysed. The random sample was composed of 110 Australian adults. A bar chart (Figure 1.) represents the percentage of Australian Adults who are either "Married", "Divorced", "Never married" or "Other". The most common response category with a percentage of 41.8% was the marital status "Married". 38.2% of the sample report their marital status as "Never married", while 12.7% of the sample report their marital status as "Divorced". Write a paragraph explaining the key features of the data observed through the output. The Total Expenditure per week of the sample was collected and analysed. The random sample was comprised of 82 Australian adults. A histogram (Figure 2.) The shape of the distribution is positively skewed with 4 extreme cases as outliers. The 4 extreme cases had a total expenditure (per week) of over $650, including the highest score of the sample of $665. 50% of the total weekly expenditure was $185 or less.
