This is predicted from the fact that previously Americans use on average 4.25 complementary and alternate medicine services. A random sample of 1414 Australians found that the mean of those using complementary and alternate medicine services was 2.55 (s=2.37, which is less than the mean from previous research of Americans). The on-sample test shows that the difference in mean is significant t(1414) =40.398, p<0.001. The 95% confidence interval shows that the average use of complementary and alternative medicine services is higher than the previous research between 2.4237-2.6711. As predicted the use of complementary and alternative medicine services is higher for Australians and thus the hypothesis that Americans and Australians have different values is correct. Question 2a. In a random sample of 1405 males and females surveyed, the average level of spiritual belief on a scale of 1-4 (4 being the highest) for men was 1.97 (s=0.59654, N= 701) and for females was 2.19 (s=0.67767, N=704). An independent sample T-test shows that the mean difference in spiritual belief between men and woman is not significant t(1403)=6.5, p<0.001 The 95% confidence interval indicates that the mean for spiritual beliefs of men and woman is between -0.288 and -0.154. It can be concluded that Men do NOT have higher level of spiritual beliefs than woman, however the data suggests that both male and female have similar levels of spiritual belief. Question 2b.
