Employability and Career Development Theory Employability is can be fundamentally referring to the increasing of skills, knowledge that makes an individual more likely to attractiveness and selection of job candidates. A career can be assumed of a personal process that develops over a person's life span. The core of career development is personal growth which can support lifelong learning and employability. Therefore, as a final year Civil Engineering student, identifying my potencies, weaknesses and improvements to make myself more confident as an employee is crucial at this stage. Since the labour market is intensively competitive an employer is looking for employees that are looking for people who are flexible and specially that have the ability to undertake a variety of tasks in different backgrounds. Through analysing the skill development theories, we can conclude that every student should focus on to develop a strong sense making of work ethics and positive attitudes, along with significant skills and capabilities other than focusing only on their academic results. Nevertheless, as the three vital skills an individual should obtain problem-solving, teamwork and cross-cultural competency and planning and organising in order to enhance and sharpen the employability and career development theory. (Hicks, 2019). Other than that communication, initiative, self-management are top employability skills. Primarily I would explicit my interests to a colleague, also to escalate the matter to my placement supervisor too. It would probably give me a wider perception to the problem along with his advice on how to lever such situations professionally in the future. In the next, I would immediately lend my hand in re-instating the shade sail demonstrating the team spirit and willingness to help when needed which that is the career development learning is concerned. Australia is being a multi- cultural country, it is important to understand and work with people from different cultures, respecting their rights and liberties while managing our own responsibilities related to the career as an international student. I learnt that I have good problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence and self-management along with a strong understanding of career development. Mainly I believe in myself and I would to like to expand my network to build my reputation and the vision for my own life and career. This re- confirmed the understanding of my own abilities however, I believe I should continue to develop my skills and experience to further enhance my capabilities. Analysing the career theories, I understood that the choice of career and its development depends on many factors which Super's Theory is more applicable for me in my personal career planning and management. Individual life situations, priorities, competencies and environments change with time and experiences and therefore my best choice of career today might not be the same in ten years down the line, which will be the Establishment stage.Developmental theories recognize the changes that people go through as they mature, and they emphasize a life-span approach to career choice. By applying this theory, I think I will be able to achieve a better work-life
