Professional Reflection and Career Development in AI

PART 1: PROFESSIONAL REFLECTION Work is the essence of society evolution, it has formed the nature of the community we are living in. Back in the beginning, our ancestors did not work for money, but they worked for their existence such as hunting, building, sewing, ... and that is still inherited by humanity nowadays. From my point of view, people have to work for their survival first. Money is a tool which enables people to acquire their essential needs, therefore they need to work for money to get shelters, food and clothes. However, I believe there is a further meaning of working: to be fulfilled and identify the purpose of living. According to the theory of Jobs, Careers and Callings (Wrzesniewski, et al., 1997), I find that work has a more meaning of Career to me. I do not feel that working is only for financial purposes or any other equivalent benefits. I believe that work can reflect my values and contributions in the society, also earning a good social standing and power helps me to experience a fuller meaning of living. I consider my professional life as a mission of enriching the technology development by generating artificial intelligent (AI) systems and devices that can improve the productivity in every industry. I also have an ambition to explore some breakthroughs in the AI area and inspire young people to contribute positive values to our society. In order to achieve my professional purpose, I am currently pursuing the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), majoring in software, at Swinburne University and plan to complete PhD after graduating. The acquisition of academic knowledge helps me to sharpen my technical skills and I hope that someday I will be able to conquer my dreams and ambitions. My attitude towards career development is influenced by three factors in The Systems Theory of Careers (McMahon & Patton, 1995): Individual System, Social and Environmental System, Recursiveness and Change Over Time. The Vocational Personalities and Work Environments theory (Holland, 1997) declares that better congruence between personalities and occupations improves the productivity and satisfaction. This theory applies to me, I have a strong background in mathematics, calculus and logical thinking which enables me to be interested in working with numbers, hence affecting my career decisions above. Social and Environmental factors also have a great impact on my career development. The Life-span, Life-space theory (Super, et al., 1996) indicates that career choice is not static but constantly changes over different stages in life. My career development was oriented by family when I was in the Growth stage (from birth to 14), at which I was not able to be aware of my strengths and interests, until being in the Exploration stage (from 15 to ft4), I started to understand more about myself and discovered my own principles as well as the meaning of work. Thus, I redirected my career path to match with my mindset. PART 2: VMOCK REGISTRATION SCREENSHOT SWIN Student Dashboard BUR . NE GN Play Quick Guide GN
