CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND In order to run its classrooms, labs, and workshops, CorpU, like many other colleges, employs a sizable number of casual or sessional personnel each semester. Permanent or long-term contract employees who are in charge of locating, hiring, and scheduling qualified sessional for the various units they supervise are in charge of managing these temporary employees. The lengthy and complicated hiring process for temporary employees prompted CorpU to look into creating a centralized online system to simplify and boost the effectiveness of the procedure. 1.2 PURPOSE This individual study report's goal is to investigate the issues and suggest solutions for the CorpU sessional staff management system's database storage component. The study will include advice for effective and dependable data storage as well as a summary of the main elements to take into account when selecting a database management system (DBMS). Also, compare the existing systems that are available in the markets and grasp the idea from them (Williams, 2019). 1.3 OBJECTIVE The project's goal is to create an application prototype that exemplifies the sessional staff management system's capability. CorpU will be able to evaluate the potential value of the product by viewing the prototype, which will depict how the finished item might appear and feel. Instead of delivering a completely deployable solution, the focus is on developing a workable prototype.
