SOUTH ASIAN AGRICULTURE ECONOMY: A CASE STUDY OF SOUTH ASIAN CASHEW ECONOMY Dr. Parashram Jakappa Patil* ABSTRACT All south Asian countries are facing common problem of under economic development. However most south Asian countries are agricultural dominated economy where agricultural resources are available at large which has great economic exposure which playing significant role in sustainable south Asian economic development. Cashew is one of the important resources available at south Asian countries especially India, Shri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan. However, South Asia is the global leader in world cashew business especially India. World Bank and IMF have considered cashew-nut industry is one of the important poverty eradication tools at global level. It shows importance of cashew-nut industry at global level. The objectives of this paper are exploring relationship between south Asian cashew economies in context of south Asian economic development, portrait of South Asian cashew economy, Study supply chain management of south cashew economy, identified the problems and prospects of south Asian cashew economy. It is trying to assess the role of South Asian cashew economy into sustainable development of South Asian economic development in long run. The paper has explained sustainable economic development process of South Asia through south Asian cashew economy. 1.1 INTRODUCTION South Asia is the global leader in cashew business; it is hub for world cashew-nut industry. It has great potential in this region in context of south Asian economic development. It is exist especially in India which is global leader in cashew business, Shri Lnaka which is one of the important country in this business, Myanmar, Bangladesh, some part of Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan. All south Asian countries are facing common problem of under economic development.
