YEAR 13 ECONOMICS - COVER WORK FOR MRS SYMONS From Tuesday 27th November (Week A) LESSON 1 Using the assessment test that you were given back on Friday, RE-TEST and SELF-ASSESS all, or specific sections of this test based on the feedback you received on Friday and the work you have done since them. PRACTICE FIRST, then TEST YOURSELF. Learn theories you didn't know for the exam. DRAW and RE-DRAW the diagrams, until you can do it easily. Whatever is most appropriate for you, spend this lesson following up from this test. Work together to test yourselves and to support each other, but USE the lesson effectively to LEARN material. Preparing revision slides, might also be productive use of your time here. Focus on the TOPICS IN 3.2 AND 3.3 particularly. LESSON 2 Using your textbooks, make notes on ch55, "Evaluating competition and monopoly". This chapter connects previous concept of efficiency and market structure. You do need to be able to reproduce the diagrams, but you will find most are already familiar to you. However, a new concept which is being ADDED to the diagrams, is the idea of "deadweight loss". Make sure you take these diagrams carefully into your notes, and adding the new ideas and argument for it. HOMEWORK Complete the RESEARCH task discussed before I left - you remember? "Go Christmas Shopping?". You are to conduct research into the market structures, pricing and non-pricing strategies of some of the major high street shops. (Try to select a variety of stores and types of examples. Up to 5 different shops.) You are to PRESENT a feedback to the class, and an EVALUATION of your opinion of the strategies employed by the different companies. On-going homework. Week Beginning Monday 3rd December (Week B) LESSON 3 Looking back to the notes you made last week on Chapter 55, answer the questions in the chapter, Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. Support each other to work out the correct responses, and make a notes of your answers. READ the case study question at the end of the chapter "King of the Castle" and consider your answers to these questions. You may like to make a few notes. LESSON 4 AT the start of today's lesson, you are to complete the CASE STUDY question, "King of the Castle" at under TIMED CONDITION. Take no more than 35 minutes to do this. Then, using the suggested responses to the chapter on EDMODO, conduct a PEER ASSESSMENT of your answers - just switch your work on your table.
