Module Code & Title: LAW1009M Contract Law Contribution to Final Module Mark: Assignment- 30% E-Seminar-20% Examination- 50% Description of Assessment Task and Purpose: 1. Assignment- Students are required to submit a 1500 maximum words answer to a problem question aimed at testing the students' demonstration of clear understanding in relation to the principles of law and legal issues relating to the problem, and ability to apply those contractual principles to the problem, supporting conclusions through legal analysis and reasoned argument. 2. E-Seminar Assessment Reflection Log- Students are required to complete and submit a reflection log with guided questions. The E-Seminars are aimed at developing key skills including research, reading, problem solving and group work. The assessment reflection log should evidence an improvement in students' skills over the period of the E-Seminars and tutors evaluate their engagement with the process. 3. Examination- End of year examination with Part A (based on a Pre-released scenario problem) and Part B with a mix of problem and essay questions. The questions are aimed at testing the students' knowledge and understanding of the principles of contract law studied throughout the year. Learning Outcomes Assessed: 1. Demonstration of an understanding of the principles of law and legal issues relating to those areas of contractual liability covered in the module. 2. Ability to apply those contractual principles to contract law problems, supporting conclusions through legal analysis and reasoned argument. 3. Demonstration of competent research skills, which involve the capacity to retrieve information from various sources including printed and computer- based material.
4. Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and in a structured manner. 5. Ability to participate in class debates and discussions. Knowledge & Skills Assessed: Assignment- Knowledge of contract law principles, application of the law, research skills, ability to articulate and communicate relevant arguments in a clear structure.
