Google Docs: A Quantitative Approach to Understanding and Enhancing Usability and Performance in Higher Education Introduction Google Docs is a web application released by Google in 2006 as part of its free, web- based Google Drive service, and is available on almost any device as a web, mobile or desktop application. This application's popularity has increased significantly since its release, due to today's technologically advanced world requiring applications and tools with more interactivity, usability, and instant connectivity. The workplace and education are two particular areas that require applications such as Google Docs due to its encouragement for workers or students to communicate and ease of use. However, does one truly need to be an expert to use Google Docs at its full capacity, as long as it is user-friendly? An application such as this should be user- friendly for novices or less frequent users (MacDorman et al., 2011) and provide a more positive perception on usability, ease of use and functionality (Nakayama & Chen, 2019). Google Docs would also be a significantly beneficial application to use in education as students can achieve positive perceptions of the learning process through collaborative learning in this manner (Ebadi & Rahimi, 2019).
