Complications Medication Administration Hypoglycemia Photosensitivty Erythema multiforme -Aplastic anemia PO: administer once in the morning or divided into 2 doses. Administer with meals Contraindications/Precautions Hypersensitivity and to sulfonamides - Type 1 diabetes Diabetic coma or ketoacidosis concurrent use of bosentan Nursing Interventions Monitor glucose levels Observe for signs of hypoglycemia Monitor CBC periodically Assess for allergy to sulfonamides Interactions Bosentan Alcohol concurrent use of warfarin Cyclosporin Client Education instruct patient to take medication at the same time each day - Educate patient that this medication controls hyperglycemia and DOES NOT CURE diabetes Educate symptoms of hypoglycemia Evaluation of Medication Effectiveness Control of blood glucose without symptoms of hypoglycemia.
