Biography

I have been teaching high school science for over seven years. My bachelor’s degree in Biology and master’s degree in Science Education have allowed me to develop not only a strong understanding of science content, but a clear, research-based teaching methodology conducive to effective science education.

My biology background has allowed me to work in research labs focusing on animal behavior, serve as an ambassador for the Program for Women in Science and Engineering (PWiSE), and study the effects of global warming and pollution on coral reefs in Honduras. I have led groups of students to Honduras and South Africa to conduct conservation science. My personal interests align closely with my professional life. I am an animal lover, with two cats, a Chilean Rose-Hair Tarantula (which occasionally makes a classroom visit!), and a leopard gecko. I enjoy being outdoors, and live an active lifestyle.
