I am currently pursuing a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. I graduated with a B.S. in neurobiology and psychology with a certificate in honors biology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2018. I am interested in pursuing academia following my PhD, and working as a tutor with Numerade would help me be properly prepared for such a career.
I have held several instructor and/or mentoring roles within an academic setting, including serving as a peer mentor, advisor, and undergraduate teaching assistant for the honors Biology Core Curriculum (BioCore) program at UW-Madison. In these roles, I led study sessions for younger students in the program, advised incoming students on academic goals, and assisted students with laboratory research projects. Further, I have led discussions and graded lab reports as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Psychology at UW-Milwaukee. In addition to academic positions, I have also conducted research as a research specialist at the Wisconsin Psychiatry Institute and Clinics, where I was responsible for independently conducting research projects as well as training new staff and students on study techniques within the lab. Additionally, I coordinated three large-scale research studies, administered clinical assessments, and recruited participants for clinical trials. I consider these positions to have contributed to my development into a well-rounded instructor in STEM, and I believe the expertise gained through these experiences qualifies me as a strong candidate for the Numerade Tutor position.
