Biography

I recently graduated with my PhD in physics, and received my bachelors in both math and physics in undergrad.
I have always been passionate and proactive about helping others with school-related work. Informally, I started tutoring others in math and computer coding classes in high school, often volunteering to walk around and help other students after finishing my own assignments. And have continued to help friends and family members with homework assignments to this day.

Formally, I've worked in tutoring or teaching since 2009.
? (2009-2013) Tutored math (algebra, trig, calculus, and linear algebra) as well as physics (calculus and algebra based) for over 3 years as an undergraduate.
? Received training as a tutor, becoming a CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) certified level III tutoring as an undergraduate.
? (2011) Taught a 6 week intensive preparation course for the math portion of the graduate records exam (GRE) in undergrad. Held lecture 3 times per week along with group tutoring sessions for 6-10 students.
? (2012) Mentored a group of 5-8 high school students doing a summer research internship as an undergraduate student. Helped the students to program robots to avoid obstacles while seeking a target.
? (2014-2016) Worked as a teaching assistant in graduate school. Helped with in-class student self-exploration assignments and held weekly office hours to help with homework problems.
? (2016-2018 summers) Mentored students participating in researcher experience for undergraduates (REU) while a graduate student. Taught the students the basics of research work in our research group: working the high performance computers, writing computer code, solving basic problems, etc.

The philosophy of Numerade to make education accessible and affordable to all students is one that deeply resonates with myself. I would consider a great privilege and opportunity to take my knowledge and expertise and give students an additional tool in their own self-education and academic pursuits.

Fundamentals of Differential Equations

Coupled Equations. In analyzing coupled equations ofthe form $$\frac{d y}{d t}=a x+b y$$
$$\frac{d x}{d t}=\alpha x+\beta y$$

where a, b, a, and b are constants, we may wish to determine the relationship between x and y rather than the individual solutions $$x(t), y(t)$$ For this purpose, divide the first equation by the second to obtain $$\frac{d y}{d x}=\frac{a x+b y}{a x+\beta y}$$

This new equation is homogeneous, so we can solve it via the substitution $$v=y / x$$ We refer to the solutions of (17) as integral curves. Determine the integral curves for the system $$\frac{d y}{d t}=-4 x-y$$
$$\frac{d x}{d t}=2 x-y$$
