I am a marine biology MSc student currently located in the UK. As a US citizen I understand the American content needs and grading system, but may also provide tutoring to students in the UK. I learned early in my undergraduate career that I could not fully comprehend something until I had the ability to teach it. Since then I have found friends and peers to tutor in difficult subject areas to benefit my own study habits and increase their understanding of the subject matter. I found a passion in teaching and mentorship specifically, and feel that where ever my future career takes me, mentorship will play a significant role in my career goals. I am an organized and articulate individual and I pride myself on asking the right questions to understand subject matter. In my MSc statistics course I was often sought out by other students and thanked for my inquisitive questions which helped them in lectures, and was able to guide my lecturers into explaining a concept in a different way when content was confusing and worked with both students and lecturers to smooth over unclear modules. As a current student in the pandemic, I am too familiar with online learning and the value of a properly organized lecture video. I have the unique ability to use empathy to understand what current students may be lacking from online content and fill gaps in understanding, and the articulation to explain difficult concepts in a new way which may help countless students. I feel I would be a valuable asset to the numerade educator team, not only for my ability to teach students, but also due to my own drive to increase my leadership and mentoring skills.
