this problem is comparing a rifle was a bullet being shot compared to a rifle held up against your shoulders. So initially, these both objects are arrest and then afterwards the bullet is being shot forward while the rifle back. So our initial mentum equals the mo mentum of the rifle. Lost the momentum of the bullet after it has been shot and we want to solve for the initial velocity of the rifle. We can get a recoil speed of the rifle to be 4.58 meters per second.
