A 27-year-old man is seen by you after the diagnosis of syphilis. As you are administering his treatment you find he is quite promiscuous. You inform him that you must notify the Department of Health and that his sexual contacts need to be treated. He is extremely embarrassed and asks how they will find out.
What should you tell him?
