A 42-year-old man comes to see you for routine management when you inquire about multiple scratches and contusions as well as a black cyc. He says his wife routinely abuses him and is "beating me up prctty rcgularly, doc." He denies hitting his wife. You see him a few weeks later and he has a new version of the same injuries. You are very concerned about his injuries and you tell him that you are planning to report the injuries. He very clearly states that he does not want these injuries reported.
What do you tell him?
a. You have no choice but to report the injuries because you are a mandatory reporter.
b. You will report the injury only with his consent.
c. You will honor his wish but must report it if there is another episode.
d. There is no spousal abuse reporting.
e. You will report it if you find evidence that the wife was really the attacker.
