In this problem, we're told that we are weighing ourselves with a bathroom scale, and we are convinced that the value it is giving us for our weight, we're just going to call that value x, is not actually the true value, or is not actually an accurate representation of what you weigh.

So just putting this into a picture here, i drew a normal distribution here with an average value or a mean of what we defined as x, which is the value that the scale gives you.

And with this, we can create our hypotheses.

And in this case, our null hypothesis would be that x, the value that the scale gives you is equal to y, or that's just what i'm going to call our true value or the true weight, and we're convinced that the scale that gives us an incorrect value...
