Hello, welcome to the video, and today we're going to be talking about hypothesis tests, and specifically what type of test we would use for certain situations.

In this problem, we're told that we have a water bottle that claims to have 16 ounces of water in it, but we suspect that the true value of water in the bottle is actually less than that.

So if we were to translate this into hypotheses here, our null hypothesis would be that the amount of water, or in this case, we would just call that mu, is equal to 16.

That's what the company is claiming.

And we're told that our alternative hypothesis, or in other words, what we suspect is true, is that this value is actually less than 16.

We want to find statistically significant evidence to show that the true value, if we look at this graph here, instead of being here at 16, is actually somewhere over here, maybe somewhere closer to 14...
