00:01 Hello, everybody.
00:02 Welcome to this session with mrs.
00:05 Hallstrom about the importance of dissolved oxygen for your friendly goldfish.
00:11 Sad, sad story for you, and this is just pretend, so don't get too emotionally scarred by it.
00:19 Somebody goes out, buys a goldfish, brings it home.
00:23 They've got the goldfish in a lovely little sack, and they move the goldfish very happily into its lovely new home.
00:35 Uh -oh, not too long later, our goldfish is dead.
00:41 What could have possibly happened? well, i'm going to tell you, our very responsible owner wanted to make sure that they had wonderful water.
00:53 So they boiled that water and quickly cooled it.
01:04 Once the water had been cooled to room temperature, the water was put in the bowl, and the fish was transferred to the bowl.
01:13 Fish died and the fish died because it had insufficient oxygen and like all living creatures we need oxygen to survive oxygen isn't very soluble in water but it does dissolve to some extent and oxygen dissolved in water is sort of a big deal in the world of biology and especially in the world of fisheries there's even d o meters dissolved oxygen meters that people can use to test the amount of dissolved oxygen...
