question 18 says the section of sphere has a radius of curvature of 180.72 meters. If this section is painted with the reflective coating on both sides, what is the focal length of a the convex side and be that con cave side? Remember when parallel rays of light come in and strike a convex mirror? They focus no where they actually bounds off here, right? But those light rays all appear to originate from the same point. If you were to trace thes back and because of that because they appear to come from a spot behind them here and they don't actually we assign their focal length is negative, and the focal length of a convex mirror is simply negative. Half of the curvature, our radius of curvature. So this is equal to negative half times 0.72 which is, of course, negative 0.36 centimeters. And all that negative indicates is it's on the other side of the mu. However, when rays of light coming from this side, they actually focus at this point on DSO for the Con Cave site. F is the positive version. F equals half the radius, and so this is half of 0.0.72 which is of course positive 0.36 and that lets us know that the focal point eyes on the same side as the incident race.
