Alright, so here i've drawn two different simple cells, kind of extra simplified today.
00:11
On the left, i have a simple prokaryotic cell.
00:14
You can kind of see the nuclear material floating around in the middle, and then little duts of ribosomes that kind of float inside the cytoplasm there.
00:23
And then on the right, i have kind of a basic animal cell.
00:27
Today we'll just pretend that this is a human, like, skin cell.
00:31
And you can see we've got the nucleus, nucleolus, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, and a nice little mitochondria in there.
00:43
So these cells look and behave pretty differently, and they have widely different genomes.
00:53
The prokaryotic cell has about 3 ,000 genes.
01:02
And this animal cell, let's say, again, it's a human skin cell.
01:05
There's about 21 ,300 genes.
01:12
Huge difference...
