in this problem. We're being asked to add the two given integers. So we have negative four plus negative 14. And there are a lot of different ways to think about how to do this. I'm going to just set up a number line to help us. So if I set up a number line, I'm gonna put zero on the far right because they see that all these numbers are negative, so I'm just gonna go. 123 And 123456789 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17. We can probably fit in 18 there, and I'm just gonna put every other here. So negative to negative. Four Negative six. Negative. Eight. Negative. 10. Negative. 12. Negative. 14. Negative 16. And we at the end here we have negative 18, and we'll have to hear. Alright. Well, to add using a number line, we started the very first number negative four. So we go four units to the left of zero. So that be here? Well, because we're adding on a negative 14. Typically, when you would add, you would go to the right, but because you're adding on a negative. That means we have to go 14 units to the left. So this would be to 468 10, 12, 14. So where are we at? We're now at negative 18. So what we found is that we take negative four and we add on negative 14. That means our number is getting smaller and our result is negative 18.
