Here we're taking a look at hypothesis testing as it relates to a study which examine the effectiveness of prozac in treating anorexia as compared to the effectiveness of a placebo in treating anorexia.

So in this case, we would have our effectiveness of prozac minus the effectiveness of the placebo should be equal to zero, right? because if we're subtracting these two from one another and it's equal to zero, that's suggesting that they perform equally well, which would suggest to us that prozac is not actually effective, considering that a placebo work just as well.

Now our alternative hypothesis here would be that prozac is in fact more effective.

So in this case, we have the effectiveness of prozac minus the effectiveness of the placebo should be greater than zero, right? because if prozac is better, if we subtract a lesser value of effectiveness from it, we should get a value greater than zero.

So if that were the case, what should our conclusion be for this hypothesis test? well, it should be to fail to reject the null, right? we would fail to reject the null hypothesis that prozac and the placebo worked just as effectively as one another.
