Hey everybody, today we're talking about premature birth and how policy makers or basically public health officials can assist to this and stop again.
00:17
So, by how can public health health so this is running to me and slow birth rate.
00:59
So this is a personal question, like you kind of talking about your individual self.
01:06
It's not necessarily a wrong answer here.
01:09
It's always some answers they're looking for.
01:11
They want you to demonstrate that you know what they're talking about, basically.
01:17
So if you were a public health official, what could you do? so let's think about what are the main causes of premature birth and low birth weight.
01:25
Now, it's important to realize that not all of this can be eradicated.
01:38
I think there's a really big problem in our society of people not realizing the instances of miscarriages or anything like that, and that makes a lot of women feel alone.
01:53
We could remember one and four pregnancies.
01:56
This is just kind of something that comes wrong with how complex human life is.
02:14
There's just going to be some problems.
02:17
So that is important to take into your mind.
02:21
You have to sit there and go, okay, there's not always a reason for why bad things are happening, but there is a lot of things that we can do that can help.
02:31
And i think a lot of it just has to do with using science as opposed to feelings or outdated science so research would be something that i would do a lot of funding because we know some major causes right but there's more than we're actually taking to effect i mean there's more than we're actually taking into account like alcohol and that type of thing that's pretty common however there's a lot more at play here and the effect of severe fetal alcohol syndrome and everything and just fetal alcohol syndrome are a real problem but like that is an already understood thing and i think one of the major aspects that could help with helping people understand that is education so we want it to be free because a lot of the times in other countries and it comes with oh oh by the way i'm saying this is the united states so in a lot of countries, they basically have education for pregnant mothers that is free.
04:03
They do that here, but it's not run by the government.
04:09
Nonprofit organizations or something like that.
04:11
But one way that we can make sure that the proper education is happening is have all this for free.
04:17
A really other important thing is so check up for pregnant women.
04:39
If you've ever known somebody or been pregnant yourself, you know that you have a to go to the doctor quite a bit.
04:45
There's a lot of little things that happen.
04:49
These type of things are just commonplace, but when you have checkups for pregnant women, you can educate them and check in.
05:05
There's a lot of the times that low birth weights are happening, you might think that we're dealing with, you're might thinking that, oh, this is someone who didn't know they're pregnant or they're doing something wrong...
