Hi, the purpose of this video is to talk about the significance of different evolutionary adaptations in animals.
00:09
So below the title here, i have listed several and then some reasons that they were successful, that they were evolutionary adaptation.
00:16
So let's start with the first one here, which is the vertebrae.
00:19
Think of invertebrates versus vertebrates.
00:22
So why would having a vertebral column be a benefit? why would that be an evolutionary adaptation? well, there's a couple of different reasons.
00:28
First of all, it's a protection for your spinal cord, which is vital for survival.
00:33
The second is the vertebral column is an attachment for major bone structures.
00:37
For example, the chest and pelvic girdle.
00:40
And then those allow for muscle attachment for movement.
00:44
And this is one of the reasons that these animals were very successful because of these strong muscles can attach and allow for movement.
00:51
The second one would be the evolution of jaws.
00:54
So fish, jawed fish were the first to evolve jaws from jawling.
00:59
Fishes.
01:00
This allowed for an increased feeding opportunities.
01:02
Think of predation.
01:04
That's very important for survival...
